GILEAD FEST FINAL LINEUP + DAY PASSES, SEA OF BONES – EARTH WANTS US DEAD 2LP ANNOUNCEMENT, GILEAD MEDIA + DEBEMUR MORTI, DISTRO UPDATE, THOU TOUR DATES

The snow is finally beginning to melt here in Wisconsin. Time to plug in those sump pumps and prepare for the spring thaw. At least Gilead Media is no longer in my basement, so I won’t have to take half days off from work to keep the basement dry on warmer days. Also, with the help of Dale and Scott, I’ve been re-arranging and further organizing the Gilead studio space to make things a bit easier to manage and open up some floor space. It’s definitely a nice feeling to take control of the work space and organize a bit after this long winter. Everyone around here has been feeling awfully shut-in. Lots of snow, lots of bitter cold air.

But with the coming of March we have Gilead Fest 2014 closing in, more info on that below. Every week I’m getting more and more excited to once again bring everyone together here in Oshkosh. It’s going to be a wonderful summer. By the end of July you’ll bet I’ll be complaining about the absurdly hot and humid weather we’ll certainly be having. I’ll miss the snow, and the cold, and the walks through the woods. Everything is so crisp and quiet in the winter.

I. GILEAD FEST UPDATE: UZALA + GERYON ADDED. FINAL SCHEDULE + DAY PASSES

The time has come. At long last I’ve finalized the lineup and schedule for Gilead Fest 2014, taking place July 18th-20th, 2014, in lovely Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

First off, our last two additions for the festival:

GERYON

Geryon is comprised of Nick McMaster (bass) and Lev Weinstein (drums), both of Krallice and numerous other projects. Gilead recently released the debut 12″ from Geryon, and I couldn’t be more stoked to confirm them for the festival this year. Their alternative approach to death metal is going to add some nice variety, and from what I’ve heard, is truly a sight to behold live. Familiarize yourself with their debut now: http://geryon.bandcamp.com/

UZALA

I’ve been following Uzala since the release of the first LP, and had the pleasure of seeing them last fall in Madison on their US tour. An incredibly captivating live band full of massive riffage. If you haven’t heard their newest album, Tales of Blood and Fire, then hit the link and regret the time you’ve been spending not listening to it.

And, finally, here is the full Gilead Fest lineup divided by day. Please note, as always the schedule is subject to change. Stuff happens. Don’t be mad if you buy a day pass because of one band, and that band has to be moved to a different day for scheduling reasons. The atmosphere of the entire weekend will rule, you’ll wanna spend more than one day there anyhow.

II. SEA OF BONES – THE EARTH WANTS US DEAD 2LP RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT

I’m happy to announce that Connecticut doom-smiths Sea of Bones will be working with Gilead Media to bring their 2013 album, The Earth Wants Us Dead, to the vinyl format. The record will be mastered for vinyl by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording, and presented as a gatefold 2LP limited to 500 on various colors of vinyl.

We’re going to try to get these ironed out in time for Gilead Fest, but that is going to be cutting it close. Stay tuned. And if you haven’t heard this monstrous band, then direct yourself to the Gilead online store (where you could also buy the CD) and listen now: hit it

III. DEBEMUR MORTI PRODUCTIONS TO DISTRIBUTE GILEAD MEDIA IN EUROPE

More exciting news to announce, Debemur Morti Productions in France is now distributing Gilead Media releases! They have a dedicated section in their store just for my records, which rules. The other thing that rules is that European kids will be able to get Gilead releases at far more reasonable prices going forward. They will be stocked up on all new records as close to street date as possible. Check em out, and check back often for upcoming Gilead releases in their store!

IV. NEW ONLINE STORE ITEMS

I’ve had a lot of new items arrive over the past few weeks, including a huge box from Debemur Morti containing a batch of the new Blut Aus Nord Liber series short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, and zip hoodies. I also received a big box of stuff from A389 for the first time, so that’s cool. Get at the Bloodlet 2LP, amazing album. Gilead has also re-printed that incredible Ash Borer pullover hoodie that we did for their Stella Natura show last year. If you don’t see an item here listed in the store, then it has sold out.
